IoTeX is one of the few L1 blockchains purpose-built for the Internet of Things economy. Rather than adapting Ethereum or Solana for device interactions, IoTeX designed its consensus mechanism, gas model, and smart contract system around the constraints of IoT hardware: limited connectivity, intermittent uptime, and the need for cryptographic proof that data came from a specific physical device.
IoTeX positions itself as infrastructure for other dePIN projects to build on — similar to how Peaq targets the machine economy. The Pebble tracker hardware generates verifiable location and environmental data signed by a hardware security element. This produces tamper-proof data streams that applications can trust without trusting the device owner.
DIMO brings connected vehicle data to the dePIN stack. Drivers who plug a DIMO OBD dongle into their car stream telematics data — location, speed, engine diagnostics — to the DIMO network, earning DIMO tokens and retaining ownership of their vehicle data. This data is then sold to insurance companies, fleet operators, and automotive manufacturers.
